Vegetable: Our Meal
Had the word “vegetable” come across your vocabulary? I ask this question because some of us don’t know that word, idiomatically speaking. They don’t want to experience the joy of which vegetables give us and I don’t get their point but for me, vegetables are one of my friends.
Philippines is a vegetable-gifted country. Any kind of vegetable you want, you can find it in here. Name your vegetable and we have it. But, as I comprehend our surrounding, I often see an individual eat it. Yes, there are also people who eat them but most, disregard them. We so many vegetables so why don’t serve it at every meal? I do hear complains that vegetables are not that delicious but, in my own point of view, nutrients must be the first thing to look at when it comes to food. After all, taste can’t make your body refine and progress but it is the nutrition or nutrients from vegetables that does it.
Our body is like an engine, it cannot run without fuel. The fuel of our body is our food which can consist of carbohydrates from grains, protein from meat and vitamins and minerals from vegetables. Out of the three, vegetables must always be present every meal. Grains and meat can be greasy which gives fats to our body. These fats are the building blocks of obesity which are now the norm for fast-food chain lovers for fast-food chains seldom serve vegetables. Vegetable has only little amount of oil which is essentially needed by our body. Without vegetables, our body and our life will be colourless.
The bottom line, we should practice serving vegetables every meal for it is necessary in our body. There’s no harm in eating them. There is no reason for us to be afraid of it. Vegetables give a lot of nutrients that gives delight to our body systems. So, look everywhere, the vegetables are only waiting for us to cook and serve them. :)
